6 nimmt! (which means "Take 6!" in German) is a fun card game for 2 to 10 players. Wolfgang Kramer designed it in 1994. The game was first published by Amigo Spiele. It even won a cool award called the Deutscher Spiele Preis in 1994!

How to Play 6 nimmt!
The game uses 104 special cards. Each card has a number and little bull's head symbols. These bull's heads are like penalty points. Your main goal is to collect the fewest penalty points.
A game usually lasts about ten turns. In each turn, all players choose one card to play. These cards are placed on four rows on the table. If you have to place your card on a row that already has five cards, you must take all five cards. These cards count as penalty points. The game ends when someone reaches 66 or more penalty points. The player with the lowest score wins!
The Cards
The game deck has cards numbered from 1 to 104. Each card has a certain number of bull's heads, which are your penalty points. Here's how the points work:
- Card 55 has 7 bull's heads.
- Cards that are multiples of 11 (like 11, 22, 33) have 5 bull's heads. Card 55 is an exception.
- Cards that are multiples of 10 (like 10, 20, 30) have 3 bull's heads.
- Cards that are multiples of 5 but not 10 (like 5, 15, 25) have 2 bull's heads.
- All other cards (most of them!) have just 1 bull's head.
Getting Ready to Play
First, shuffle all 104 cards. Then, deal ten cards to each player. Make sure players keep their cards secret!
Next, take four cards from the rest of the deck. Place these four cards face-up on the table. They will start the four rows.
Playing the Game
Each turn works like this:
- Choose a Card: Everyone secretly picks one card from their hand. Place it face down in front of you.
- Reveal Cards: When everyone has chosen, all players flip their cards over at the same time.
- Place Cards: Now, starting with the player who played the lowest number card, each player places their card on one of the four rows.
Rules for Placing Cards
There are important rules for where you can place your card:
- Higher Number: Your card must be a higher number than the last card in the row.
- Closest Number: You must place your card on the row where the last card is closest to your card's value. For example, if your card is 33, and rows end with 29 and 30, you'd place it next to the 30.
- Taking Cards: If your card is the 6th card in a row, you must take all five cards already in that row. Your card then starts a new row. The cards you take are penalty points. Keep them separate from your hand.
- Lowest Card Problem: What if your card is lower than the last card in all four rows? This means it can't fit anywhere! If this happens, you must choose one row and take all the cards from it. You usually pick the row with the fewest bull's heads. Your card then starts that row.
After everyone has placed their card, you start a new turn. Players pick another card from their hand. This continues for ten turns until all cards are played.
Ending the Game
After all ten turns, each player counts the bull's heads on the cards they collected. This is your score for the round. Write down everyone's scores.
The game continues with new rounds until one player reaches a total of 66 or more bull's heads. The player with the fewest bull's heads at that point wins the game!
Game Variations
There are different ways to play 6 nimmt! to make it more challenging or strategic.
Take 6! – Tactics
This version is for fewer than 10 players. Before you start, you remove some of the highest numbered cards from the deck. For example, if there are 5 players, you only use cards from 1 to 54. This makes the game more about strategy. You can guess which cards other players might have.
Children's Version
There is also a special version for younger children. It helps them learn about numbers and how to compare them (bigger or smaller). This version is a great way to teach kids counting and basic math skills while having fun. It's known for being engaging and easy to learn.
