Antony Basker Raj (born June 25, 1930 – died August 23, 2020), also known as A. B. Raj, was a famous Indian film director. He was known for making many movies, especially in the Malayalam language. He also directed films in Sinhala and Tamil.
A Director's Journey
A. B. Raj had a long and busy career in movies. From 1951 to 1960, he directed ten Sinhala movies. After that, he directed 65 Malayalam movies between 1963 and 1984. He also made two Tamil movies.
Interestingly, A. B. Raj worked as an assistant director on a very famous Hollywood movie called The Bridge on the River Kwai. This movie was directed by David Lean. A. B. Raj is also the father of Saranya Ponvannan. She is a well-known actress in Tamil cinema and has won a National Award for her acting.
His Final Days
A. B. Raj passed away on August 23, 2020. He was 90 years old. He died because of a heart attack.
