A. Korkunov (Russian: А.Коркунов) is a company that makes delicious chocolates in Russia. It was started in 1999 by two people, Andrey Korkunov and Sergey Lyapuntsov.
The company has a factory in Odintsovo, which is a town near Moscow. A. Korkunov sells its chocolates all over Russia and in many other countries too.
A Popular Brand
A. Korkunov is a very well-known brand in Russia. It has been called a "Top 10" brand by important groups like Young & Rubicam. This means many people know and like their chocolates.
It's even as famous as big global brands like Sony (for electronics), Gillette (for razors), and BMW (for cars). A. Korkunov used old symbols and writings from the Tsarist Russia to make their brand feel fancy and special.
You can find A. Korkunov chocolates in places like the United States, Germany, Lithuania, and China.
Joining the Wrigley Family
On January 23, 2007, a big chewing gum company called The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company bought a large part of A. Korkunov. Wrigley paid $300 million for 80% of the company. This was the first time Wrigley had ever entered the chocolate business.
In 2006, A. Korkunov made $100 million in sales around the world. They produced 25,000 metric tons of chocolate that year. About 5% of their chocolates were sold outside of Russia.
Chocolate Boutiques
In December 2012, A. Korkunov opened a special chocolate shop in Moscow. These shops are called "boutiques." This shop sold 15 different kinds of hot chocolate. It also offered fresh products made right at their factory in Odintsovo.
The company might open more of these chocolate boutiques across Russia in the future.
