The A. Robinson Building is a special old building in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It's also known as the Howard-Robinson Building or the Pyramid Barber Shop. This historic commercial building was built a long time ago, between 1940 and 1941.

Discovering the A. Robinson Building

This building is two stories tall. It is made of yellow and red bricks. The bricks on the north and south sides were made by a famous local brickmaker. His name was George S. Black.

What Was the Building Used For?

The A. Robinson Building was built for a very important reason. It was made to be a home for African-American businesses. Two of the main businesses there were the Howard-Robinson Funeral Home and a barber shop. This helped the local community a lot.

A National Historic Place

Because of its history and importance, the A. Robinson Building was added to a special list. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. This means it's recognized as a significant part of American history.
