ABCya.com, L.L.C. (also known as ABCya!) is a popular website that offers fun and educational games for school-aged children. The games on the site are organized by grade level, from pre-kindergarten up to sixth grade. You can also find games by subject, like letters, numbers, and holidays. Many of these games help kids learn skills that match important school standards.
How ABCya Started
ABCya.com was created in 2004 by a teacher named Alan Tortolani. He used to make his own fun activities for his students in school. Later, he decided to put these activities online. He chose the name "ABCya" because it was easy for kids to remember and type.
In April 2017, Lisa Tortolani became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. This means she took charge of running the business.
In 2018, another company called IXL Learning bought ABCya. This made ABCya part of a bigger group of educational websites.
Around 2020, a technology called Adobe Flash Player was no longer supported. Many of ABCya's older games used this technology. Because of this, some games were rebuilt using newer technology like JavaScript. Other games had to be removed from the website completely.
Awards and Recognition
ABCya has received special awards for its educational games and apps:
