The ANZ Bank Centre is a very modern office building in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It's known as a "premium grade" building, meaning it's super high-quality. This tall skyscraper reaches about 180 metres (591 ft) to its roof. Its highest point, including decorative parts, is about 195 metres (640 ft) tall.

About the ANZ Bank Centre

This shiny glass building was designed by a company called Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp (FJMT). They are an architectural firm based in Sydney. The building was constructed by Grocon, a company from Melbourne.

Location and Design

You can find the ANZ Bank Centre at 161 Castlereagh Street. There's a large open area outside that connects Castlereagh Street to Pitt Street. Most of the building is used for offices. The ANZ Bank uses a lot of space here and even has its name on the building! You can also find shops at the ground level, facing both Castlereagh and Pitt Streets.

Building Milestones

The building's structure was finished on July 13, 2012. This event is called a "topping out ceremony." It means the highest point of the building's frame is complete. The whole project cost about A$800 million. Construction of the tower was fully completed in April 2013.

Special Features

The ANZ Bank Centre has some cool features. For example, there's a private penthouse apartment. It's located on two levels, the 43rd and 44th floors. This special area even has its own rooftop pool and terrace. You can get there using a private lift that goes straight to those floors.

An old building called Legion House is also part of the project. It's a heritage-listed building, meaning it's historically important. It was updated to create unique office spaces.

The lifts in the ANZ Bank Centre are very fast! They were made by a company called Schindler. These lifts can travel at speeds of 9 metres per second (30 ft/s). That makes them the fastest lifts in all of Australia.

Who Works Here?

Many different companies have offices in the ANZ Bank Centre. These are called "major tenants" because they rent a lot of space.
