What is A Dog on Barkham Street About?
Edward's Big Wishes
The main character in the story is a boy named Edward Frost. Edward has a big problem: his neighbor, Martin Hastings, often picks on him. Edward feels very bothered by this. He wishes his family could move far away to escape the bullying.
Edward also really wants a dog. He asks his parents for one many times. However, his parents do not think he is ready to take care of a pet. They believe he needs to show more responsibility first.
A Special Gift
One day, Edward meets his Uncle Joe. Uncle Joe is a traveler who moves from place to place. He gives Edward a special gift: a collie dog named Argess. This gift changes Edward's life in many ways.
