The film A Gnome Named Gnorm (also known as Upworld) is a 1990 fantasy buddy comedy movie. It was directed by Stan Winston. The story is about a police detective in Los Angeles who works with a special gnome to solve a mystery.
What the Movie is About
Gnorm is a gnome who lives underground. He wants to do something brave to impress a lady gnome. He decides to take a special stone called the lumen to the surface. This stone needs sunlight to recharge its power.
When Gnorm reaches the surface, he sees a crime happen. The person who committed the crime ends up with the lumen stone.
Detective Casey (played by Anthony Michael Hall) was working on a secret mission. The crime makes it look like he failed his mission. He is blamed for what happened. To clear his name, Casey wants to catch the person responsible.
Casey accidentally finds Gnorm and they decide to work together. Casey's partner, Samantha (played by Claudia Christian), thinks he is acting strangely. This is because no one else knows about Gnorm.
