About Aaron Douglas
His Early Life and Journey to Acting
Aaron Douglas was born in New Westminster, a city located on the South Coast of British Columbia, Canada. His father was a professor, and his mother was a psychologist. He has a younger brother named Chris.
His family lived in Vancouver until Aaron was 10 years old. They then moved to Creston, where he attended Prince Charles Secondary School. During his teenage years, he was very active in school plays and even played in a rock band. He also took part in local community theater.
When he was 26, Aaron decided to follow his dream of becoming an actor. He moved back to Vancouver and studied acting at the William Davis Centre for Actors Study at VanArts.
How He Started His Acting Career
After finishing his studies, Aaron Douglas performed with the Okanagan Shakespeare Company in Canada. Many of his first acting jobs came from a unique role he had: he was a "reader" for auditions. This meant he would read the lines for the other characters while someone was auditioning for a role.
Often, after an audition, the director would notice his talent. They would offer him small parts, like a police officer with just a few lines. This is how he slowly started building his acting resume and getting more roles.
Aaron's Personal Interests
Aaron Douglas has a big passion for hockey. He has been skating since he was only two years old! He still plays hockey as an adult, usually as a goalie. He is a huge fan of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. You can often find him at their home games, cheering loudly with his friends. Some of his friends are also actors from the Sci-Fi Channel, like Daniel Bacon, Dan Payne, and Ryan Robbins.
He is also a fan of Wil Wheaton, who was in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Aaron Douglas has even said he felt like a "fangirl" when he met Wil Wheaton for the first time at a convention in 2008.
