Aaron James's Basketball Journey
Aaron James was a tall player, standing 6 feet 8 inches. He played as a small forward for the New Orleans Jazz. The Jazz picked him in the 1974 NBA draft. This means they chose him to join their team after he finished college. He was their very first player ever chosen in a draft!
College and Draft Day
Aaron went to Grambling State University before joining the NBA. In the 1974 NBA draft, he was the 10th pick in the second round. This was a big moment for him. Another league, the ABA, also wanted him. The Utah Stars picked him in their draft that same year. But Aaron chose to play in the NBA.
Playing for the New Orleans Jazz
Aaron James played for the New Orleans Jazz from 1974 to 1979. During his time with the team, he played 356 games. He was a strong scorer, averaging about 10.8 points per game.
