History
Abanda started when a railroad, the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad, was built through the area. The railroad's initials, "ABandA," gave the community its name.
A post office was opened in Abanda in 1908. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years. However, it closed down in 1956.
