Abdelkader Aamara (born on January 28, 1962, in Bouarfa) is an important Moroccan politician. He is currently the President of Morocco's Economic, Social and Environmental Council, often called CESE. He took on this role on March 24, 2025.
The CESE is a special group that gives expert advice to the King and government. It helps them make good decisions about Morocco's economy, society, and environment. The CESE brings together people from the government, workers' unions, businesses, and other groups. They talk about important issues and suggest solutions.
Before his current job, Mr. Aamara held many different government positions. He was a minister in charge of various important areas for many years.

Early Ministerial Roles
In 2012, Mr. Aamara became the Minister for Industry, Trade, and New Technologies. He worked under the government led by Abdelilah Benkirane. This role involved helping Moroccan businesses grow and encouraging new technologies.
From 2013 to 2016, he served as the Minister for Energy, Mines, Water, and Environment. In this job, he focused on important resources like water and energy. He also worked on protecting Morocco's environment.
Key Government Positions
Between 2017 and 2021, Mr. Aamara was the Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics, and Water. This was a big job that included managing roads, transportation, and water systems. He worked in the government of El Othmani.
He also stepped in as an interim (temporary) minister twice. From October 2017 to January 2018, he was the interim Minister of Health. Later, in August 2018, he briefly served as the interim Minister of Finance.
Member of Parliament
Beyond his ministerial roles, Dr. Aamara was a Member of Parliament for Salé. He was first elected in 2002 and was re-elected several times. This means he represented the people of Salé in the Moroccan Parliament. He left the Justice and Development Party (PJD) in September 2023.
Education and Early Career
Mr. Aamara is also a highly educated person. He earned a special degree called a Doctorate from the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute in 1986. After that, he worked as a professor at the same institute until 2002. He also spent ten years as a science advisor for a global science organization based in Sweden.
Leadership and Public Service
Mr. Aamara has held several important leadership roles in his career.
- He was the Chairman of the Productive Sectors Committee.
- He served as the Vice-President of the JDP Parliamentary Group.
- He was also the First Vice-President of the House of Representatives.
He helped start the Association of Moroccan Parliamentarians Against Corruption. This group works to fight corruption in government. He was also part of the National Union of Higher Education. Mr. Aamara is also a founding member and Vice President of the World Forum of Islamic Parliamentarians.
