The party was founded by V. Ponraj. He used to be the scientific adviser to President Kalam. However, President Kalam's family was not happy that the party used his name and picture.

About the Party's Start
Why the Party Was Formed
Before the party officially began, there was a special meeting. This meeting was held by a group called United Vision India 2020. They wanted V. Ponraj to lead a new political party.
The meeting happened on February 26 and 27, 2016. It took place at V. Ponraj's home in Thonugal village. At first, V. Ponraj was not sure about getting into politics. But many people from all over Tamil Nadu had been asking him to lead for months.
Goals of the Party
The main goal of the Abdul Kalam Vision India Party was to work towards Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's "Vision 2020." This vision was a plan for India to become a developed nation by the year 2020. It focused on things like economic growth and improving life for everyone.
Party's Later Journey
Merging with Another Party
The Abdul Kalam Vision India Party later joined with another political party. It merged with Makkal Needhi Maiam. This party was founded by the famous Tamil actor, Kamal Haasan. This merger happened after the party's founding.
