Aceguá is a unique town in Uruguay. It is located in the Cerro Largo Department in the eastern part of the country. What makes Aceguá special is that it sits right on the border with Brazil.

Where is Aceguá?

Aceguá is found along Route 8, a main road in Uruguay. The town is split into two parts by the international border. This means one part of Aceguá is in Uruguay, and the other part is in Brazil. They are separated by a street that marks the border between the two countries.

How Aceguá Grew

Aceguá started as a smaller populated area. Over time, it grew bigger and more important. On December 23, 1941, it was officially recognized as a "Pueblo," which means a village. Later, on April 14, 1986, it grew even more. Its status was then changed to "Villa," which means a town. These changes showed how the community was developing and becoming more established.
