Acomita Lake is a small community in Cibola County, New Mexico, in the United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area identified by the government for statistics, but it's not officially a city or town. In 2010, about 416 people lived there.

Where is Acomita Lake?

Acomita Lake is located in the northeastern part of Cibola County. It sits right on the northern edge of the Acoma Indian Reservation. If you're driving on Interstate 40, you can find Acomita Lake by taking exits 96 or 100.

Water and Land Around Acomita Lake

The community gets its name from a reservoir called Acomita Lake, which is in the eastern part of the area. The Rio San Jose river also flows along the southern side of the community. This river is a branch of the Rio Puerco.

The total area of Acomita Lake is about 9.2 square kilometers (or 3.5 square miles). Most of this area, about 8.9 square kilometers (3.4 square miles), is land. The rest, about 0.3 square kilometers (0.1 square miles), is water.
