Exploring Adalia: Geography

Adalia is found in a small valley, which is a low area between hills. It is part of a region called Montes Torozos. A comarca is a traditional local area in Spain.

Adalia shares its borders with several other municipalities. These include San Cebrián de Mazote, Barruelo del Valle, Villasexmir, San Salvador, Gallegos de Hornija, Vega de Valdetronco, and Mota del Marqués.

Two small streams, the Retortero and Darzuela, flow through the area. The highest point in Adalia is Mount Atalaya, which stands at 830 meters (about 2,723 feet) tall.

A Look Back: Adalia's History

Long ago, Adalia was a walled village. This means it had protective walls around it. At different times, the village was owned by important groups. These included the bishop of Palencia and a religious group called the Order of San Juan. The Order of San Juan even called the village "Adella."

About 200 years ago, the main jobs in Adalia were farming and making fabric. People grew crops like wheat and barley. They also worked on bleaching canvas, which is a way to make strong fabric white.
