Adam Gidwitz (born February 14, 1982) is an American author who writes awesome books for kids. He's super famous for his "Grimm" series, which includes A Tale Dark and Grimm (2010), In a Glass Grimmly (2012), and The Grimm Conclusion (2013). In 2017, he won a special award called the Newbery Honor for his book The Inquisitor’s Tale: Or, The Three Magical Children and Their Holy Dog (2016). You might also know his book A Tale Dark and Grimm because it became an animated show on Netflix in 2021!

About Adam Gidwitz

Adam Gidwitz was born in San Francisco in 1982. He spent his childhood growing up in Baltimore, Maryland.

His Education and Path to Writing

Adam went to Columbia University for college. He studied English literature there. He even spent a year studying abroad in England as part of a special program.

After college, Adam became a teacher at Saint Ann's School in Brooklyn. He says that working as a substitute librarian at the school gave him the idea to write his popular "Grimm Trilogy" books.

In 2011, Adam married Lauren Mancia. They met when they were both in college. Today, Adam and Lauren live in Brooklyn, New York. Adam now writes books full-time, bringing amazing stories to life for young readers.
