Adam Selzer is an American author. He was born on July 13, 1980, in Des Moines, Iowa. He first wrote books for young adults and middle schoolers. Later, he started writing mostly nonfiction books for adults.
About Adam Selzer
Adam Selzer's first book was How To Get Suspended and Influence People. It came out in 2007. This book was chosen for the Chicago Public Schools summer reading list. It was also nominated for an award for young adult fiction. In 2009, some people tried to remove it from a library. Because of this, it was included in the American Library Association's Banned Books Week packet in 2010.
In 2013, his 2011 book Sparks received a Stonewall Honor award. It was also added to the ALA's "Rainbow List." His book Smart Aleck's Guide to American History was nominated for a nonfiction award in 2011. Another book for younger readers, I Put a Spell On You, was nominated for a Great Lakes Book Award. It was also considered for an Edgar award. This book became a popular choice for classrooms.
In 2009, Adam Selzer co-wrote a short film called At Last, Okemah!. This film won awards at several festivals. His editor asked him to write a book based on a song he had written. This book, I Kissed a Zombie and I Liked It, was released in 2010. Reviewers called it "smart," "original," and "hilarious." Disney Channel Original Movies even considered making it into a film.
Many of his books and songs take place in Cornersville Trace. This is a made-up town near Des Moines, Iowa.
Besides writing books, Adam Selzer works as a historian in Chicago. He also gives tours and investigates ghost stories. In 2009, he released Your Neighborhood Gives Me the Creeps. This book shared stories from his life as a ghost tour guide. He also wrote about his views as a skeptic in the ghost-hunting world. He worked with Chicago Hauntings tour company until 2015. In 2017, he released a detailed book about a famous historical figure in Chicago. The book was called HH Holmes: The True History of the White City ....
