Life and Career of Adela Ginés

Adela Ginés y Ortiz studied art at a famous school in Madrid called the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando. She learned from well-known artists like Carlos de Haes and Sebastián Gessa.

Adela was also a teacher. She taught at the Association for the Teaching of Women. She loved to paint landscapes, which are pictures of nature, and still life art. Still life often shows objects like vases or fruit.

Her artwork was often shown at the National Fine Arts Exhibitions. She received special mentions for her painting in 1887 and 1895. She also won awards for her sculptures, getting a mention in 1892 and a third-place medal in both 1895 and 1899.

In 1897, Adela won another third-place medal. This was for an oil painting that showed a rooster, hens, and grapes. Her work was even recognized internationally! In 1899, she received an honorable mention at the Universal Exhibition in Paris.
