Adelaide Pereira da Silva was a talented Brazilian artist. She was a pianist, a composer, and a painter. She was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on July 5, 1928, and passed away there on August 8, 2021.

Her Life and Music

Adelaide Pereira da Silva grew up in São Paulo, Brazil. She started playing the piano when she was very young. Her first teacher was her own mother. Later, she studied with other teachers like Nair de Souza.

She became a very skilled pianist. She took advanced classes with Professor Hans Bruch. Another famous pianist, Gilberto Tinetti, said that Adelaide was one of Bruch's most talented students. He even described her piano playing as having an "exuberant sonority," which means it sounded very rich and full.

Adelaide also loved to compose music. She learned composition from teachers like Dinorah de Carvalho and Osvaldo Lacerda. Later, she studied with the famous composer Camargo Guarnieri. She became an important part of his group of students, alongside other well-known composers.

In 1960, Adelaide started working as a music teacher. She also taught as a professor at Santa Marcelina College and Belas Artes College. She was very interested in Brazilian folk music. She used what she learned about folk themes to create many of her own musical pieces.

Professor Pereira da Silva also helped start the "Brazilian Pro Music Society." This group helps support and promote Brazilian music.

Awards and Honors

Adelaide Pereira da Silva won many awards for her compositions. She received special honors and medals for her work. Some of these include:
