The Museum Building
The museum is inside a special house. It is called the Woodrow/Dakin House. This house has a classic Georgian style. It is one of the oldest buildings in Digby.
The house was bought in 1968. It first became Digby's main library. A group interested in history started a small display there in 1972. This group later took over the building. When the library moved to a bigger spot in 1980, the museum took over the whole house.
Who Was Admiral Digby?
The museum is named after Admiral Robert Digby. He was an important Royal Navy officer. In 1783, he helped bring settlers to the town. These settlers were called Loyalists.
