Adolfo Domínguez Fernández (born on May 14, 1950) is a well-known Spanish fashion designer. He is famous for his unique clothing styles. In 2014, he received the National Design Prize, a very important award in Spain.
Adolfo Domínguez studied Philosophy and Arts at Santiago University. He focused on Art during his studies. As of 2023, his company has about 350 stores. These stores are located in 24 different countries. More than half of his stores are outside Spain. In the 2023–24 financial year, his company earned 114 million euros.
Building a Fashion Business
Adolfo Domínguez started his fashion journey in the early 1970s. He took over his father's small clothing shop in Ourense, Spain. For several years, he worked on creating his own clothing designs.
First Big Show
His big break came in 1981. He presented his designs in Madrid, which is the capital of Spain. This show helped him become very well-known. He was the first Spanish designer to open his own brand-name store in Madrid.
Growing the Brand
His first store quickly grew into a large chain. He opened many more stores across Spain. Soon, his brand also expanded internationally. In 1997, his company became public. This means people could buy shares in his company.
Today, Adolfo Domínguez S.A. has around 400 stores. About 98 of these stores are located outside Spain. The company's yearly sales are around 182 million euros. His company also has a perfume line. This perfume line is owned by a company called Puig.
