Adrian Paul Hardy (born August 16, 1970) is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL). Adrian played for the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals. He was chosen by the 49ers in the second round of the 1993 NFL draft. Before that, he played college football for the Northwestern State Demons.
Early Life
Adrian Paul Hardy was born on August 16, 1970. His hometown is New Orleans, Louisiana. He went to Redeemer High School in New Orleans.
College Career
Hardy was a standout player for the Northwestern State Demons. He played for them from 1989 to 1992. He was a four-year letterman, meaning he played well enough to earn a special award each year.
He was named first-team All-Southland Conference in both 1991 and 1992. In 1992, he was also named an All-American. This means he was recognized as one of the best college players in the country. During his college career, he was very good at blocking kicks. He blocked ten kicks in total! After his final season, he played in the Hula Bowl. This is a special game for top college players. In 2014, Adrian was honored by his school. He was put into the Northwestern State N-Club Hall of Fame.
Professional Career
The San Francisco 49ers picked Adrian Hardy in the 1993 NFL draft. He was the 48th player chosen overall. He officially joined the team on July 12, 1993.
During his first year in 1993, he played in ten games for the 49ers. In 1994, he played in two games before leaving the team.
On September 16, 1994, the Cincinnati Bengals picked him up. He played in 14 games for the Bengals that year. He returned eight kicks for 185 yards. He also recovered one fumble. He left the Bengals in August 1995 but rejoined them in September. He played in ten more games for them in 1995. Adrian Hardy left the Bengals for good in March 1996.
