Adriana Lisboa, born on April 25, 1970, is a talented writer from Brazil. She has written many books, including seven novels. She also writes poetry, short stories, and books especially for children.
Her books were first written in Portuguese. They have been translated into more than twelve other languages. One of her novels, Crow Blue, was translated into English in 2013. It was even chosen as a top book of the year by The Independent newspaper in London. Her stories and poems have appeared in many well-known magazines.
Adriana Lisboa is considered one of Brazil's most important authors. She has won several awards for her writing. These include the José Saramago Prize for her novel Symphony in White. She also received an award for her children's poetry book, Língua de trapos. In 2007, she was named one of the 39 most important Latin American writers under 39.

Her Life and Studies
Adriana Lisboa has lived in different countries. These include Brazil, France, New Zealand, and the United States. She studied music at the Federal State University of Rio de Janeiro. She earned a degree in music. Later, she continued her studies in Brazilian Literature. She also got a PhD in Comparative Literature.
She has been a visiting scholar at several universities. These include places in Japan and the United States. In 2014 and 2017, she was a writer-in-residence at the University of California, Berkeley. This means she lived there and worked on her writing.
Her Musical Journey
Before becoming a full-time writer, Adriana was a musician. When she was eighteen, she started singing Brazilian music in France. Later, she played the flute. She also taught music in Brazil.
Translating Books
Adriana is also a translator. She translates books from English, French, and Spanish into Portuguese. She has translated works by famous authors. These include Emily Brontë and Margaret Atwood.
