Adriana Vargas is a well-known Colombian journalist and news presenter. She was born in Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. Today, she is a lead anchor for WXTV Univision 41 Nueva York in New York City.

Early Life and Education
Adriana Vargas studied Social Communication at Pontifical Xavierian University. She graduated in 1998. However, she started her journalism career even before finishing her studies. Two years earlier, she began working with a small production company.
Starting in Television
After her first steps in journalism, Adriana presented several cultural shows. These shows were for a state-run channel called Señal Colombia. Later, she joined a famous journalist named Manuel Teodoro. Together, they co-hosted a newsmagazine show called Séptimo día on Caracol TV. A newsmagazine is a TV show that combines news reports with in-depth stories.
A Career in News
In 2000, Séptimo día ended. Adriana then moved to a different TV network, RCN TV. At RCN TV, she presented the Noticias RCN news show. She also worked as the international editor for the news. This meant she was in charge of news stories from around the world. From January 2002 to December 2004, she hosted a nightly opinion newsmagazine called La noche.
Radio and Return to TV
In 2005, Adriana Vargas also worked in radio. She was part of Caracol Radio's morning news show, Hoy por hoy. She also hosted and directed Noticiero del mediodía. In the evenings, she co-hosted Noticiero CM&. After these experiences, she returned to RCN TV in 2006.
Working with the President
In 2010, Adriana Vargas took on a very important role. She joined the team of President Juan Manuel Santos. She became his spokeswoman and International Media Director. A spokeswoman helps share information from a leader to the public. An International Media Director manages how the leader's message is shared with media around the world.
Anchoring the News in New York
After working with the president for one year, Adriana Vargas moved to the United States. She joined Univision in New York. Univision is a major Spanish-language television network. She started working at WXTV channel 41, which serves the New York Tri-State area. Today, she is a lead anchor for their newscasts. She presents "Noticias Univision 41 A las Seis" at 6 pm. She also anchors "Noticias Univision 41 Solo a las Once" at 11 pm.
