Adrianne Janette Byrd (born November 23, 1970 – died October 30, 2020) was a very popular African-American author. She wrote more than 50 romance novels. Her book, The Beautiful Ones, is one of her most famous works. It can be found in over 400 libraries around the world.

About Adrianne Byrd

Early Life

Adrianne Byrd was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Her family was a military family, so they moved around a lot. When she was a child, she even traveled through Europe.

When Adrianne was thirteen, her older brother showed her some romance novels. This sparked her interest in writing stories. Soon, she started writing her own fiction.

Her Writing Career

In 1994, a friend at work told Adrianne about the Romance Writers of America group. By 1996, she had sold her very first novel. It was called Defenseless and was published by Kensington Publishing.

Later, in 2006, Adrianne started writing with another author. They wrote a series of books called the Hoodwives trilogy. For these books, she used the pen name De'nesha Diamond. She also wrote the popular (Hood) Divas series under this name.

Adrianne's books were featured in many national magazines. These included Today's Black Woman and Upscale. She also won local awards for writing movie scripts.

In 2014, Adrianne Byrd lived in Georgia, USA. Besides De'nesha Diamond, she also wrote books using the names Layla Jordan and A.J. Byrd.

Measure of Man is a funny romance story. It's about a woman named Peyton Garner. She thinks her brother, Flex Adams, has a new boyfriend named Trey "Lincoln" Carver. This is after her brother ended a long relationship.

But Lincoln is not gay, and he doesn't even know who Flex is! When Peyton and Lincoln meet in New York, they start to like each other. As Peyton's family gets ready for a wedding, all these misunderstandings start to come out.

My Destiny

My Destiny is another romance novel. It's about a woman named Destiny. She really doesn't like her new neighbor, Miles Stafford. He's a lawyer and lives across the hall. Destiny thinks he's too proud and likes too many women. So, she turns him down when he shows interest in her.

However, a power outage brings them together. Destiny soon realizes she might have judged Miles too quickly. They become friends and even open their own law office together. As they get older, both Destiny and Miles look for other partners. But they can't seem to find the right person.
