Club Career Highlights
Starting in Brazil and Japan
Adriano began his football journey in the youth team of Guarani FC in Brazil. Before the 2000-2001 season, he moved to Japan to play for Nagoya Grampus Eight. After one season there, he returned to Guarani FC. However, he mostly played as a substitute.
Moving to Switzerland
In 2005, Adriano decided to move to Switzerland. He joined FC Thun, a club in the Swiss Super League. He quickly became a key player for the team. He was known for being a "playmaker," meaning he was good at setting up goals for his teammates from the midfield.
Champions League and UEFA Cup Adventures
Adriano had some exciting times with FC Thun. In 2005, he scored a very important goal in a qualifying match for the UEFA Champions League against Malmö FF. This goal helped Thun win 1-0 and get into the main group stage.
He played in all six group stage matches. He even scored a goal against Ajax Amsterdam, making the score 2-2 at the time. FC Thun finished third in their group, which meant they qualified for the UEFA Cup (another big European competition).
In the UEFA Cup, Adriano played against the German club Hamburger SV. He scored the winning goal in a 1-0 home game for Thun. Even though they lost the away game and were knocked out, it was a great experience for the team.
Returning to Japan and Other Clubs
In January 2007, Adriano went back to Japan to play for Yokohama FC. He returned to FC Thun in Switzerland in January 2008, but soon after, in February 2008, he moved to Bragantino in Brazil.
Later in 2008, Adriano played for Waitakere United in New Zealand. In 2009, he signed a contract with Blooming in Bolivia. After a few months, he returned to Brazil and joined Sport Recife. He was later loaned to Grêmio Prudente and then moved to Fortaleza.
