The African clawless otter (Aonyx capensis) is a fascinating type of otter. It is also known as the Cape clawless otter or groot otter. This amazing animal is the biggest otter living in Africa. It is also the second-largest freshwater otter in the world.
African clawless otters like to live near water. You can find them close to rivers, lakes, and other permanent water sources. They live in savannah areas and lowland forests. These otters are found across most of sub-Saharan Africa. However, they do not live in the Congo River basin or very dry desert places.
