Agnès Desarthe (born 3 May 1966) is a French writer. She writes novels for adults, books for children, and also works as a translator.
About Agnès Desarthe
Agnès Desarthe was born in Paris, France, on 3 May 1966. Her father, Aldo Naouri, was a doctor and a writer. She is married to filmmaker Dante Desarthe, and they have four children together. Her brother, Laurent Naouri, is a famous opera singer. Agnès studied English literature before starting her writing career.
She began her career by translating books from English into French. In 1992, she published her very first novel. Over the years, she became well-known for writing many children's books.
One of her early successes was her second novel, Un secret sans importance, which won the Prix du Livre Inter in 1996. This is an important French literary prize. Her novel Chez Moi (which means "Eat Me" in French) has been translated into more than 15 different languages, showing how popular it is around the world. In 2010, her novel Dans la nuit brune received the Prix Renaudot des lycéens. This special award is chosen by high school students, which means young readers really loved her book! Her books are published by Éditions de l'Olivier in France and Portobello Books in the UK.
