Agnès Desarthe is a French writer. She writes novels for adults and books for children. She also translates books from English into French. She was born in Paris, France, on May 3, 1966.

Agnès Desarthe was born in Paris, France. Her father, Aldo Naouri, was a doctor and a writer. She is married to Dante Desarthe, who makes movies. They have four children. Her brother, Laurent Naouri, is an opera singer. Agnès studied English literature in college.

Her Writing Journey

Agnès started her career by translating books. In 1992, she published her very first novel. She soon became a popular writer of children's books.

In 1996, she won the Prix du Livre Inter award. This was for her second novel, Un secret sans importance. Her book Chez Moi (which means "Eat Me" in French) is very famous. It has been translated into more than 15 languages.

Another one of her novels, Dans la nuit brune, won an award in 2010. This award was the Prix Renaudot des lycéens. Her books are published by Éditions de l'Olivier in France. In the UK, Portobello Books publishes her work.
