The Agricultural Pavilion is a historic building at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. It was once known as the Livestock Judging Pavilion. This building is an important part of the Texas Technological College Historic District. This district includes many old buildings on the Texas Tech campus.
The Agricultural Pavilion was one of the first buildings ever built at Texas Tech. It opened its doors in 1926. For a short time, it was even the home court for the Texas Tech basketball teams! They played there until a new gymnasium was finished in 1927.
History of the Pavilion
The Livestock Judging Pavilion was one of the first four buildings Texas Tech built for a special purpose. These buildings were made specifically for teaching about agriculture. This included learning about farming and raising animals.
The pavilion was designed to help students learn how to judge livestock. This means evaluating animals like cows, pigs, and sheep. Students would learn what makes a good animal for different purposes.
