Ahmad Heryawan, born on June 19, 1966, is an Indonesian politician. He is best known for serving as the Governor of West Java Province for two terms. He led the province from 2008 until 2018.

Ahmad Heryawan: A Leader for West Java
Ahmad Heryawan was born in Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia. He has been involved in politics for many years. He is a member of the Prosperous Justice Party. He is married to Netty Prasetiyani and they have six children.
Starting in Politics
Before becoming governor, Ahmad Heryawan was active in Jakarta's government. He was a member of the Jakarta House of Representatives. There, he held an important position as one of the vice chairmen. This role helped him gain experience in public service. He served in this role from October 2004 to June 2008.
Becoming Governor of West Java
Ahmad Heryawan became the Governor of West Java in April 2008. He won the West Java gubernatorial election in March 2008. He ran for governor with his running mate, Yusuf Macan Effendie, also known as Dede Yusuf. They were supported by a group of political parties. These included the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the National Mandate Party (PAN).
They competed against other candidates. One pair was Agum Gumelar and Nu'man Abdul Hakim. They were from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and the United Development Party (PPP). Another pair was Danny Setiawan and Iwan Ridwan Sulandjana. They were from Golkar and the Democratic Party (PD).
Serving Two Terms
Ahmad Heryawan served as governor for two terms. His first term ended in 2013. He was re-elected and continued to serve until June 13, 2018. After his second term ended, an acting governor, Iwa Karniwa, took over. Later, Ridwan Kamil became the new governor.
