Ahmed Demir Dogan (Bulgarian: Ахмед Демир Доган; born on March 29, 1954) is a Turkish Bulgarian politician. He is known for starting the DPS party in 1990. He led this party until he stepped down in 2013.

About Ahmed Dogan

Ahmed Dogan was born in Pchelarovo, Bulgaria. He studied philosophy at Sofia University. In 1986, he earned a special degree for his research on the idea of "symmetry."

Starting a Political Party

Ahmed Dogan founded the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) party. This party is a liberal group that works to support the interests of the Turkish minority in Bulgaria.

Public Event Incident

On January 19, 2013, something unexpected happened while Dogan was giving a speech. A person named Oktay Enimehmedov ran onto the stage. He held a gas pistol close to Dogan's head.

The Attack and Its Outcome

The gun had blank cartridges, which means it was not meant to cause serious harm. One of the cartridges also had pepper spray. Dogan quickly reacted and grappled with the person. Security guards and other people then helped to stop the attacker. Dogan was not seriously hurt in the incident.
