Ahmed Fathy Abdelmonem Ahmed Ibrahim (born 10 November 1984) is a famous Egyptian former professional footballer. He mostly played as a full-back, which is a defensive player on the side of the field.

Ahmed Fathy's Club Journey
Ahmed Fathy was born in Banha, Egypt. He played as a midfielder and right-back for Ismaily SC. With Ismaily, he helped them win the 2001–02 Egyptian Premier League, which is Egypt's top football league.
Playing in England: Sheffield United
In early 2007, an English club called Sheffield United offered to buy Fathy. After some talks, Fathy signed a contract with them on 24 January 2007. He made his first appearance in the Premier League as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur.
A few days later, he played his first full game against Liverpool. However, he found it hard to get a regular spot in the team. He only played three senior games for Sheffield United during his eight months there.
Returning to Egypt: Al Ahly
Fathy was linked with a move to another Egyptian club, El Zamalek. But he really wanted to keep playing outside Egypt. However, Al Ahly, a big rival of El Zamalek, managed to convince him to join them.
On 10 September 2007, Fathy moved to Al Ahly. Because the transfer window in Egypt was closed, Al Ahly couldn't register him right away. So, they sent him on loan to Kazma in Kuwait. He played regularly there and scored four goals.
Fathy finally played his first game for Al Ahly in March 2008. He quickly became a key player in the middle of the field. Later, he moved to play as a right-back, where he continued to be a regular starter for the team.
Loan to Hull City
In January 2013, an English team called Hull City wanted to sign Fathy on loan. They also wanted his teammate, Gedo. On 31 January 2013, Fathy joined Hull City for six months. He made his debut for Hull City in February 2013, helping them win a game against Charlton Athletic.
Moving to Qatar: Umm Salal
After his contract with Al Ahly ended in June 2014, Fathy moved to Qatar. He joined Umm Salal in August 2014. Before this, he had a try-out with the famous English club Arsenal, but it didn't work out.
Back to Al Ahly and Retirement
Fathy rejoined Al Ahly in 2015. He continued to play for them until April 2020, when he decided to leave the club.
On 11 April 2020, it was announced that Fathy would join Pyramids FC after his contract with Al Ahly ended. He played for Pyramids until 21 September 2024, when he officially announced his retirement from football.
Ahmed Fathy's International Career

Ahmed Fathy became the youngest player ever to play for the Egyptian national team. He was only 17 years old when he first played for his country in 2001 against South Africa.
He was chosen for the national team even before he played for his club's first team, Ismaily SC. Fathy was also part of the Egyptian youth team that won the African Youth Cup in 2003. He played in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2003 as well. At one point, he was part of Egypt's U-20, U-23, and senior teams all at the same time!
Fathy was a key player in the Egypt squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006. They beat Ivory Coast in the final. He also helped Egypt win the Africa Cup of Nations again in 2008 and 2010. In the 2010 tournament, he was even named the fair player of the tournament. He was also included in the best team of the tournament.
In May 2018, Fathy was chosen to be part of Egypt's squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. This is the biggest football tournament in the world.
