Aida Ward (born February 11, 1900 – died June 23, 1984) was an American jazz singer. She was born in Washington, D.C.. Aida Ward became very famous in the 1920s and 1930s. She performed in New York City, especially on Broadway and at the famous Cotton Club in Harlem. She even appeared with other stars like Adelaide Hall and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson in a popular Broadway show called Blackbirds of 1928.

A Star at the Cotton Club

Throughout the 1930s, Aida Ward was a regular performer at the Cotton Club. This was a very famous nightclub in Harlem, New York. She sang alongside legendary musicians such as Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway. Aida Ward is also known for helping to introduce two popular songs. These were "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" and "I've Got the World on a String." She performed these songs at the Cotton Club around 1931 and 1932. She also starred at another famous venue in Harlem, the Apollo Theater.
