A Glimpse into Aineto's Past
Aineto was first mentioned in official records way back in 1076. Over time, its name changed a bit, sometimes called Agineto or Ayneto. For a long time, Aineto was considered "Crown property." This means it belonged directly to the King of Spain.
Church and Community
The village church is a special place dedicated to the Archangel Saint Michael. At first, the church was under the Bishopric of Huesca. Later, from 1571 onwards, it became part of the Bishopric of Jaca.
How Aineto Grew
For many years, Aineto was a very small village. It had only about five residents until the late 1700s. In 1797, its population grew to sixteen people, which was the highest number recorded for a long time.
Becoming a Municipality
Aineto officially became its own municipality in 1834. This meant it had its own local government. Later, in 1845, it joined with another village called Secorún. Finally, in 1970, Aineto became part of the larger municipality of Sabiñánigo. People from Aineto are sometimes called "Señoritos."
Unique Architecture
Aineto is known for its interesting traditional buildings. You can see beautiful doorways with special carvings and decorated stones called voussoirs. The houses also feature unique cone-shaped chimneys. These architectural details show the history and style of the region.
