Akihiro Endo (遠藤 彰弘, Endō Akihiro, born 18 September 1975) is a Japanese former footballer. He played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defense. Akihiro was born on September 18, 1975. His younger brother, Yasuhito Endō, is also a well-known footballer.

Akihiro Endo's Club Journey

Akihiro Endo started his professional football career in 1994. He joined a team called Yokohama Marinos. This team later became known as Yokohama F. Marinos.

Playing for Yokohama F. Marinos

Akihiro began playing regularly in 1995. He quickly became an important midfielder for the team. In his first year, Yokohama Marinos won the J1 League championship! This was a fantastic start to his career.

From 1999, Akihiro became a key player for the team. He helped them win several more big titles. These included the 2001 J.League Cup in 2001. They also won the J1 League in both 2003 and 2004. He played many matches for Yokohama F. Marinos, showing great skill and teamwork.

Moving to Vissel Kobe

In 2005, Akihiro's playing time at Yokohama F. Marinos started to decrease. In July 2005, he decided to move to another team, Vissel Kobe. He played for Vissel Kobe until the end of the 2007 season. After that, he retired from professional football.

Akihiro Endo's International Career

Akihiro Endo also had a special moment playing for his country. In July 1996, he was chosen to join the Japan U-23 national team. This team was going to play in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, USA.

The Miracle of Miami

At the Olympics, Akihiro wore the number 10 jersey for Japan. He played in their very first match against the strong Brazil team. Japan surprisingly won that game! This victory was a huge upset and became famous in Japan. People called it the "Miracle of Miami" (マイアミの奇跡). It was a truly memorable moment for Japanese football.
