Akihiro Hino (日野 晃博, Hino Akihiro) (born July 20, 1968) is a Japanese video game designer and businessman. He is best known as the founder, president, and CEO of Level-5, a famous video game company.
Hino started his career in the 1990s as a programmer. Later, he began writing stories, designing games, and even directing and producing them. He has created many popular game series that you might know, like Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven, Ni no Kuni, and Yo-kai Watch.

The Start of His Gaming Journey
Akihiro Hino began working in the video game world in the late 1980s. He joined a Japanese company called Riverhillsoft. There, he worked on the OverBlood game series for the first PlayStation console.
He was the main programmer for the first OverBlood game. After that, he became the lead designer and director for its sequel, OverBlood 2. This showed his talent for both making games work and designing how they look and play.
Founding Level-5
In October 1998, Hino decided to start his own company, Level-5. Since then, he has been the main person behind many of the studio's successful games.
Some of his early hits for the PlayStation 2 included Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle, and Rogue Galaxy. He also worked on Jeanne d'Arc for the PlayStation Portable.
Hino also directed Dragon Quest VIII for Square Enix, another big game company. This showed how much other companies trusted his skills.
Famous Game Series
Akihiro Hino continued to design and produce many well-known games for Level-5. He was a key creator for the Professor Layton series on the Nintendo DS. These puzzle-adventure games became very popular around the world.
He also created the Inazuma Eleven series, which combines soccer with role-playing game elements. This series became a huge hit, especially in Japan, leading to anime shows and movies.
Level-5 also worked with Square Enix again on Dragon Quest IX for the DS. Hino was the director for this game too.
Later, Hino brought to life the Ni no Kuni series, known for its beautiful animation style. He also created the incredibly popular Yo-kai Watch series. These games feature friendly (and sometimes mischievous) spirits and have also become a big franchise with toys and TV shows.
