Akihiro Tabata (田畑 昭宏, Tabata Akihiro, born May 15, 1978) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender and midfielder.

Akihiro Tabata's Football Journey
Akihiro Tabata was born in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, on May 15, 1978. He started his football journey in high school. After finishing school, he joined his local professional club, Urawa Reds, in 1997.
Early Career at Urawa Reds
When he first joined Urawa Reds, Tabata played many games. He was often a center back, which is a defensive position. However, after 1998, he played less often for the team.
Moving to New Teams
In June 2001, Tabata moved to another club called JEF United Ichihara. He found it hard to get playing time there. In 2003, he joined Consadole Sapporo, a team in the J2 League.
Becoming a Regular Player
In 2003, Tabata still did not play much. But in 2004, things changed. He became a regular player for Consadole Sapporo. He played as a defensive midfielder, helping protect his team's goal. Towards the end of 2005, he played less often. Akihiro Tabata decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2005 season. Throughout his career, he played a total of 109 league games and scored 5 goals.
