The Story of Aladdin's Eatery
Aladdin's Eatery was started by a husband and wife team, Fady and Sally Chamoun, in 1994. Since then, it has grown into a very successful group of restaurants.
How Fady Chamoun Started
Fady Chamoun came to the U.S. from Lebanon in 1972. He worked full-time at a pizza chain called Little Caesars while he was studying at the University of Michigan. Over the next twenty years, he became very good at running restaurants. He eventually managed 40 Little Caesars locations!
After selling his Little Caesars businesses, Fady had $10,000 left after paying off his debts. He used this money to help open the very first Aladdin's Eatery in Lakewood, Ohio.
Growing the Business
By 2004, just ten years after starting, Aladdin's Eatery had grown to 17 restaurants. Fady Chamoun even won an award called the Northeast Ohio Ernst & Young Retail Entrepreneur Of The Year. This award recognized his success in business.
To make sure all his restaurants had fresh ingredients, Fady also started Jasmine's Bakery in Cleveland in 1997. By 2004, this bakery employed 40 people and was making a lot of sales, showing how much the business had grown.
By 2013, the Aladdin's Eatery chain had 30 locations across five different states in the U.S.
