Early Life and Education
Alain Bui studied information technology at Paris Diderot University. In 1999, he earned a special qualification from Paris 8 University. This allowed him to lead research projects.
His Career in Education
Bui began his teaching career in 1995. He worked as a senior lecturer at the University of Picardie Jules Verne. A senior lecturer is like a main teacher at a university. From 1999, he taught at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne.
In 2003, Bui joined the French National Centre for Scientific Research. This is a big organization that supports science in France. He became the head of their Simulation Department. Later, from 2013 to 2015, he led the Prims Laboratory.
At Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University (UVSQ), he helped manage international partnerships from 2012 to 2016. Then, he became the Vice-President of the university from 2016 to 2017. He has written more than 60 scientific papers.

Alain Bui is a member of the Haut Conseil de l'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur. This group helps check the quality of research and higher education in France. He is also part of the Agence nationale de la recherche, which funds research projects. From 2011 to 2016, he was a member of the Conseil national des universités. This council helps decide on university careers and rules.

In October 2017, Alain Bui became the president of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University. He took over from Didier Guillemot. As president, he is in charge of running the university.
