Alain Lefebvre (born in 1960) is a French entrepreneur and author. He has done important work in computer technology. He helped create a type of computer system called client-server computing. In 1990, he co-founded a company named SQLI. He led this company for over ten years.

Alain Lefebvre has written more than 29 books. Five of these books are about computers and the internet. Since 1995, Alain and his wife Murielle Lefebvre have supported Montessori education in France. This is a special way of teaching children. He also started the first social network for professionals in France, called 6nergies.net. He has given talks and was interviewed about Web 2.0 in 2004. He also wrote a book about social networks in 2005.

Alain Lefebvre's Journey

Early Career in Tech

Alain started working in information technology (IT) in 1977. In 1980, he joined Thomson-CSF. There, he worked as a programmer. He helped create computer programs for civil aircraft simulators. These are like giant video games that help pilots practice. In 1988, he became a consultant for Db2. This is a type of computer database system.

Starting SQLI

In 1990, Alain helped create a company called SQL Engineering. This company later became known as SQLI. In 1993, he started writing articles for computer magazines. He also published his first book. It was called The Client-Server Architecture. This book explained how computers can share information.

In July 2000, SQLI became a public company. This means its shares could be bought and sold on the Euronext Paris stock exchange. At that time, SQLI had 700 employees.

In 1997, Alain Lefebvre began writing essays. He also wrote a column called "The Terrible Truth" on his own website. In April 2001, he left the SQLI group. He then became a motorsport driver. He even wrote a book about racing in 2004, called "Racing."

His Social Network

In the summer of 2004, Alain Lefebvre launched a new website. It was the first French social network for professionals. It was called 6nergies.net. Alain Lefebvre wrote a book about this network in 2005. The book was titled Social Networks, M21 Editions.

By 2007, the website had more than 20,000 users. However, 6nergies.net could not get enough money to keep going. The website 6nergies.com closed in August 2009.
