Alan Alan (born Alan Rabinowitz, 30 November 1926 – 4 July 2014) was a famous British escapologist and magician. He was known for creating exciting new tricks that other performers later used. He also received a special award from The Magic Circle, a very respected group for magicians.

The "Buried Alive" Trick
In 1949, Alan performed a dangerous "buried alive" stunt for Pathe News. This trick involved being buried underground. It almost went wrong, which made it even more famous. Luckily, Alan was able to escape safely.
The Burning Rope Escape
Alan Alan is also famous for inventing the "burning-rope straitjacket escape." In this trick, he would hang upside-down from a tall crane. He wore a straitjacket, which is a special jacket used to restrain people. A thick rope, soaked in petrol, held him up. Once the rope was set on fire, Alan had only a short time to escape. He had to get out of the straitjacket before the rope burned through completely. This was a very risky and thrilling performance.

Alan Alan appeared in many television magic shows. He was even featured in The Magic of David Copperfield, a show by another famous magician. He once performed for inmates at Wormwood Scrubs prison. During this show, he "taught" them how to escape from handcuffs. In later years, he was seen on the Channel 4 TV show The Secret Cabaret with Simon Drake.
His Magic Shop
For many years, Alan Alan owned a magic shop in London. It was called Alan Alan's Magic Spot. The shop was located on Southampton Row. It was a place where other magicians and magic fans could buy tricks and supplies. The shop closed in the mid-1990s when its lease ended.
Honored by Magicians
In 2006, Alan Alan's important work in magic was officially recognized. The Magic Circle gave him the special Maskelyne award. This award is given to people who have done great things for British magic. It shows how much he was respected by other magicians. Alan Alan passed away on 4 July 2014, when he was 87 years old.
