Alan Brogan (born on January 11, 1982) is a famous Gaelic football player from Dublin, Ireland. He played for the Dublin county team from 2002 until he retired in 2015. Alan usually played as a centre half forward, which is a key attacking position.
Alan comes from a very well-known Gaelic football family. His father, Bernard Snr, was also an All-Ireland winner and an All Star player. Alan's brothers, Bernard Jnr and Paul, also played for Dublin. His uncle Jim was also a county footballer for Dublin.
Alan achieved a lot during his career. He won his first Leinster Senior Football Championship medal in 2002. In 2003, he won an All-Ireland Under-21 medal with Dublin. He also played for the Ireland team and scored 9 points when they beat Australia in 2004.

Alan Brogan's Playing Career
Starting Out: 2002 – 2005
Alan Brogan first played for Dublin in 2002 against Wexford. He quickly became an important player. In 2005, he helped Dublin win the Leinster Senior Football Championship against Laois at Croke Park. He scored 0-01 in that final game.
Winning All Stars: 2006 – 2007
In 2006, Alan had a challenging game against Tyrone. He was temporarily suspended after the match, but the decision was later overturned. Despite this, he continued to play well for Dublin.
He was part of the Dublin team that won another Leinster senior title in 2006, beating Offaly. Because of his great performances, Alan won his first All Star award in 2006. This award recognizes the best players in Gaelic football each year. He was also named on the first-ever GPA Gaelic Team of the Year.
In 2007, Dublin won the Leinster Senior Football Championship again. However, they were knocked out of the All-Ireland competition by Kerry. Even so, Alan's skills were recognized, and he earned his second All Star award.
Captain of Dublin: 2008
In 2008, Alan Brogan was chosen to be the captain of the Dublin senior team. This was a big honor! He led his team to win the 2008 O'Byrne Cup by beating Longford in the final.
That same year, Dublin won their fifth Leinster title with Alan as captain. They had a huge win against Wexford, scoring 3–23 to 0–9. Alan himself scored 1–03 in that impressive game.
Later Years and All-Ireland Wins: 2009 – 2015
Alan continued to be a key player for Dublin. In 2009, he won another Leinster title.
The year 2011 was very special for Alan and Dublin. They won the Leinster Senior Football Championship again, beating Wexford. Then, they faced Tyrone in the All-Ireland quarter-final and won comfortably. Dublin then beat Donegal in the semi-final, reaching the All-Ireland final for the first time since 1995.
In the 2011 All-Ireland final, Dublin played their long-time rivals, Kerry. Dublin came from behind in the last four minutes to win by 1–12 to 1–11. This was a thrilling victory! After this amazing season, Alan Brogan won his third All Star award. He was also named the GAA/GPA Footballer of the Year, which is a huge achievement.
On September 20, 2015, Alan won his third All-Ireland title. Dublin defeated Kerry by 0–12 to 0–9 in the final. Alan came on as a substitute in the last few minutes and scored Dublin's final point of the game.
On December 15, 2015, Alan Brogan announced that he was retiring from inter-county football. He said he was leaving a "wonderfully gifted football team" and taking "many great memories, friendships and bonds" with him. He thanked all the players, managers, and mentors who helped him throughout his career.
