Albert "Al" J. Hofstede (born September 25, 1940 – died September 3, 2016) was an American politician. He served as the mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota, for two terms. These terms were not one after the other. He belonged to the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.

After losing, Al Hofstede ran for mayor again. In 1977, he won the election. He beat Charles Stenvig this time. This made him the 43rd mayor of Minneapolis. His second term began on January 1, 1978.
