Alberto was part of teams like Kaiku, Caisse d'Epargne, and Katusha. He was known as a strong climber, which means he was good at riding up hills and mountains during races.

Alberto Losada's Cycling Career

Alberto Losada started his professional cycling journey in 2006. Over his career, he competed in many important races around the world. He was a dedicated rider, often helping his team leaders succeed.

Early Races and Achievements

Even before becoming a professional, Alberto showed his talent. In 2004, he finished third overall in the Vuelta a Cantabria. The next year, he placed fourth overall in the Vuelta a Navarra. These early results showed he had a promising future in cycling.

As a professional, he continued to achieve good results. In 2006, he was second overall in the Escalada a Montjuïc. He also finished seventh overall in the Vuelta a La Rioja, where he won the "Young rider classification." This meant he was the best young cyclist in that race. He often placed in the top ten in races like the Vuelta a Andalucía and the Tour de l'Ain.

Grand Tours: The Biggest Races

Alberto Losada was a regular participant in the cycling world's most famous races, known as Grand Tours. These are three-week-long races that test a cyclist's endurance and skill. They include the Giro d'Italia (in Italy), the Tour de France (in France), and the Vuelta a España (in Spain).

Losada completed many of these tough races:

  • He rode the Giro d'Italia five times. His best finish was 36th place in 2014.
  • He competed in the Tour de France three times. His highest finish was 58th in 2015.
  • He took part in the Vuelta a España six times. His best result was 24th place in 2008.

Taking part in so many Grand Tours shows how strong and consistent Alberto was as a rider. It takes incredible fitness and determination to finish even one of these races. Sometimes, a rider might not finish a race; this is called "DNF" (Did Not Finish). If a rider did not compete in a race, it's marked with a dash (—).

Alberto Losada retired from professional cycling in 2017 after a long and successful career.
