Alejandro Rey (born February 8, 1930 – died May 21, 1987) was an actor and television director. He was born in Argentina and later became a citizen of the United States. He was famous for his roles in movies and TV shows, especially as Carlos Ramirez in the popular TV series The Flying Nun.

His Acting Journey
Starting Out
Alejandro Rey was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He loved acting and studied hard to become an actor. He first became well-known in Argentine movies. In 1957, he started working on a film called El Diablo de vacaciones, which was supposed to take him around the world on a ship! However, the movie was never finished.
In 1960, Alejandro got a chance to work in the United States. He took a small role in a movie called Battle at Bloody Beach. This was a big step in his career, leading him to move to the U.S.
Becoming a Star
From 1960 to 1986, Alejandro Rey was very busy in Hollywood. He appeared in many movies and TV shows. One of his most famous movie roles was in Fun in Acapulco (1963), where he acted alongside the legendary Elvis Presley.
On television, he had many memorable parts. He appeared in two episodes of the spooky TV series Thriller. He also played a murder victim in an episode of the classic courtroom show Perry Mason in 1961.
His most famous role was playing Carlos Ramirez, a friendly casino owner, on the TV series The Flying Nun. This show was very popular around the world and ran from 1967 to 1970. He also appeared in other well-known shows like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Daniel Boone, and The Fugitive.
Alejandro Rey also showed his skills on game shows. He was often a guest on popular shows like Tattletales, Hollywood Squares, and Match Game. Besides acting, he also directed TV shows, including The Facts of Life. His last acting role was in the TV series Dallas in 1986.
His Life
Alejandro Rey moved to the United States in 1960. He loved his new home and became a U.S. citizen in 1967, while he was working on The Flying Nun.
He married Joyce Bowman on May 24, 1969, in Los Angeles. They had one son together, named Brandon.
His Passing
Alejandro Rey passed away on May 21, 1987, at the age of 57. He is buried at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
