Aleksander Mandziara (born August 16, 1940 – died September 2, 2015), also known as Alfons Mandziara, was a famous Polish football player and coach. He played for several teams and later became a coach for many different clubs in Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. He was born in Gliwice, Poland.
Playing Football
Aleksander Mandziara was a talented football player. He played as a defender. He started his career in Poland, playing for teams like ŁTS Łabędy, Flocie Gdynia, Szombierki Bytom, and GKS Tychy. He also played for a team in the Netherlands called NAC Breda.
Coaching Teams
After his playing days, Mandziara became a football coach. He managed many different clubs. In Poland, he coached GKS Tychy and Pogoń Szczecin. He also coached teams in other countries. These included Rot-Weiss Essen and SV Darmstadt 98 in Germany. In Switzerland, he managed BSC Young Boys, FC Biel/Bienne, and FC Bern. He also coached LASK Linz and FC Stahl Linz in Austria.
Mandziara passed away on September 2, 2015, when he was 75 years old.
