Alex Weir is an American guitar player. He is well-known for his work with several famous bands and artists. He plays different styles of music, including funk, pop, R&B, and soul.
Weir became famous in the 1970s when he played with the funk and R&B band the Brothers Johnson. He is also the cousin of two other band members, George and Louis Johnson.
Later, Alex Weir worked with the bands Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club. He played on their albums and joined them for live concerts. You can see him in the 1984 concert movie Stop Making Sense, which features Talking Heads.
Besides playing in bands, Weir has also worked as a session musician. This means he plays guitar on recordings for many different artists. Some of the artists he has worked with include Toni Childs. He also played on several solo albums by Jerry Harrison, who was a member of Talking Heads. One of these albums was Casual Gods, released in 1988. This album had a popular song called "Rev It Up".
