Alexander Alexandrovich Volkov (in Udmurt and Russian: Алекса́ндр Алекса́ндрович Во́лков; born December 25, 1951 – died May 20, 2017) was an important politician from Russia. He served as the first President of the Udmurt Republic. This means he was the main leader of the Udmurt Republic, a region within Russia. He was in charge of the region's government and its two million citizens.
Volkov became President on November 3, 2000. He served a five-year term after winning the first presidential elections in the Udmurt Republic. These elections took place on October 15, 2000. Before becoming President, Volkov was the speaker, or leader, of the Udmurtia region's law-making group.
