Before August 2, 1488, Alexander served as the Chamberlain of Kilmarnock. This was an important role, managing the lands and money for the Kilmarnock area. He was also a witness when Queen Margaret officially took control of the Lordship of Kilmarnock on April 19, 1504. This meant he was present for a very important legal event.
